David Bulley has been ranked as a rising star in the 2018 IFLR1000 guide to the world’s leading financial law firms, and notably is the only ranked lawyer in the Cayman Islands to be recognised for Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency.
“Congratulations to David for this endorsement, which is not only significant locally, but also on a global level. As the only lawyer in Cayman who has been recognised for his work in this, it speaks volumes to his commitment to achieve such an excellent result,” said Simon Raftopoulos, Partner and Private Equity client sector leader.
“He most recently led the team on restructuring and corporate matters for the largest ever restructuring deal in the Cayman Islands, which was highly complex involving the re-domiciliation of Ocean Rig UDW Inc. and a COMI shift for three subsidiaries from the Marshall Islands to Cayman,” added Simon. “Over the last twelve months, our Corporate Restructuring team at Appleby has advised on the most complex, high value multi-jurisdictional restructuring deals, in which David has played a substantial role.”
David has been with Appleby since 2015. His practice focuses on complex restructurings, distressed M&A and acquisition finance for large corporate clients. He has been involved in many of the largest restructuring transactions in both the Cayman Islands and London and has a particular focus and knowledge on restructuring by way of Scheme of Arrangement.
“Appleby continues to lead the market in this space and David’s recognition is evidence of that,” said Benjamin Woolf, Partner in the Corporate Department.
The IFLR1000 is the guide to the world’s leading financial law firms. The rankings year-on-year are compiled by a team of dedicated specialist legal journalists and is the only publication of its kind to focus on the leading law firms for corporate finance worldwide.
