Walkers admits two new Caymanian attorneys

Walkers has announced the admission of two new Caymanian attorneys. The admissions for Arleth Ebanks and Renee Prendergast were moved by Walkers Partner Colette Wilkins on March 14 and 15, respectively, before Justice Richard Williams and Justice Ingrid Mangatal at the Grand Court in Cayman.

“We place great importance on the training of our articled clerks, and Walkers wishes to congratulate Arleth and Renee on their achievement. We are delighted to have two more talented attorneys at Walkers and we expect that they will prove valuable assets to the profession in the Cayman Islands,” said Antonia Hardy, managing partner of Walkers Cayman Islands office.

“The Walkers training program is a rigorous test for any young person, and we are delighted to see that Arleth and Renee have both been admitted to the Cayman Islands Bar. We have known Arleth and Renee for many years and it has been extremely rewarding for us to see them both develop into their new careers as lawyers,” said Anthony Partridge, senior counsel and chairman of Walkers’ Trainee Committee.

Ms. Ebanks was a recipient of the 2012 Walkers Legal Scholarship. Born in Panama, she has lived in the Cayman Islands for the majority of her life and completed her schooling at John Gray High School. She completed the graduate diploma in law in 2013 at the Nottingham Law School and then completed the Legal Practice Course in June 2014 at BPP University in Manchester, with commendation.

Ms. Ebanks was articled to partner David Collins and commenced her Articles with Walkers on Sept. 1, 2014.

Ms. Prendergast is a recipient of the 2010 Walkers Legal Scholarship and was born and raised in the Cayman Islands. After leaving John Gray High School in 2008 and St. Ignatius Catholic High School in 2010, she attended the Truman Bodden Law School for the first year of her LL.B. She then transferred to Cardiff University where she completed her degree and earned a second upper class LL.B in 2013. Ms. Prendergast remained at Cardiff University to complete her Legal Practice Course with commendation in 2014. She was articled to partner Melissa Lim and commenced her articles with Walkers on Sept. 1, 2014.

Both newly qualified attorneys have accepted permanent positions with Walkers and will both join the Walkers’ Finance and Corporate Group.
