Leaders in Cayman’s captive insurance industry are gathering next week in San Antonio, Texas to represent the jurisdiction at a leading risk conference, RIMS 2018.
A team of over 30 experts will include a number of representatives and experts from captive businesses, the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA), as well as the Insurance Managers Association of Cayman (IMAC).
IMAC Chair Erin Brosnihan is looking forward to the event and stressed the importance of attending: “RIMS is the ideal opportunity to talk and listen – talk to potential clients about why Cayman is their number one choice for captive insurance, and listen to existing clients about what they are currently experiencing in the industry.”
Ms Brosnihan continued: “IMAC’s role involves facilitating open communication between the industry, government and CIMA. In order for Cayman to remain competitive and relevant, communication is key.”
The conference takes place 15 – 18 April 2018, and IMAC’s booth will feature a virtual reality game where players “walk the plank” for a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to this year’s Cayman Captive Forum.
“It’s definitely a unique and engaging way to draw people in,” commented Ms Brosnihan. “Virtual reality is making leaps and bounds in the tech world, and we can’t wait to see how people interact at our booth this year.”
With over 40 years’ history in captive insurance, Cayman attracted 33 new formations in 2017, and recently surpassed Bermuda as top ranked finance centre for the Latin America and Caribbean region.
“This industry is thriving,” said Ms Brosnihan. Cayman is an exceptional place to do what can only be described as clearly better business, and we look forward to sharing this with everyone at RIMS 2018.”
