Offshore law firm Appleby has appointed three new partners to its Corporate Practice Group globally, in addition to two counsel appointments in the firm’s Cayman office.
Christian Victory and Jacob MacAdam were appointed as corporate counsel in Cayman, while Andrew Jowett, corporate counsel in Appleby’s BVI office, and Kate Story, corporate counsel in the firm’s Guernsey office, will become partners on April 1.
In early May, Appleby will welcome a new partner, Fiona Chan, who has extensive experience in the banking and finance field both offshore and onshore, having practiced at Clifford Chance (London and Hong Kong), Ogier and Harneys.
Appleby’s Corporate Global Group Head, Cameron Adderley said, “These appointments will provide additional strength and talent to our corporate offering and they are aligned to our ambitious growth strategy. I look forward to welcoming Fiona to our team and I would like to congratulate Andrew and Kate on being promoted this year.”
Mr. Adderley said the offshore markets continue to thrive. “In Appleby’s latest Offshore-i report, released earlier this month, the total cumulative value of offshore M&A deals in 2015 increased 56 percent over the previous year, with average deal value topping highs not seen since 2007. Our team is busy and it is in growth mode. The addition of Andrew, Kate and Fiona to our partner ranks is a tremendous boost and will enable us to continue to focus on providing an exceptional service to our clients and referrers.”
